I came across a set of beautiful illustrations from the talented designers over at rawpixel.com. These are in fact remix designs of artwork created by famous French illustrator George Barbier. They inspired me to design a remix design of my own for the jacket of the novel “The Devil Wears Prada” using their illustrations.
I added in the triangle shape behind the woman on the front (meant to represent Miranda Priestly) to highlight her silhouette and really bring the focus on to her. On the spine of the book you will see an illustration of another woman (meant to represent Andrea Sachs) with a halo behind her head. This is meant to contrast her character with Miranda who I have also added “devil” wings to her back.
I wanted the design to be very elegant, and the illustrations of these women as well as the floral illustrations definitely sold it!
